Last night we were on the way home from a long day exploring Edinburgh when
…DING DING!
“NHS Test and Trace has identified you as a contact of someone who has recently tested positive for COVID-19. You must now stay at home and self-isolate for 10 days from the date of your last contact with them.”
Our last day of isolation is the 6th of August 2021. Based on the dates we suspect someone on the Singapore to UK flight must have tested positive to COVID-19 on their UK day two test. Looks like we’ll be in our apartment for the next week.
It certainly has been a fast-paced first week in the UK. This will give us some time to recharge the batteries and finalise the remaining mobility logistics involved with moving the family to the other side of the world.
Fortunately, we have a great support network here who have been amazing: checking in reguarly, dropping off food (including Scottish treats) and toys for the kids. We had to order another PCR COVID-19 home test kit, we will be getting good at these. Liam was due to start work next week, but that will be pushed back another week. It has been eight months in the making to get here so hopefully one more week wont hurt. Luckily at this stage, we are all feeling well.
It was nice having a slow start to the day, no need to rush anywhere this morning. We turned on the television to learn that between deliveries for the Royal Mail, Postman Pat is a piper. Coincidence? Or perhaps, this is the only episode they play in Scotland?
Of course, the first day of isolation was another beautiful day in Scotland, not a drop of rain. The sun was shining, and Lachlan was lapping it up.
There were even people walking down the street Taps-Aff.
Perhaps this will be a good period to work on toilet training Eloise. However, at the moment it’s time for balloons.

These two really are an endless barrel of laughs.
We have been looking forward to watching The Grand Tour’s new special based in Scotland “Lochdown”, released a couple of days ago. Perhaps the timing of this was inevitable.

Thank you everyone for the comments and helpful feedback. Blogging is new to us, and there is certainly an element of learning on the fly. There might be radio silence for a couple of days. Perhaps we’ll let the family Chief Blogger provide an update midweek on what colour she has coloured in the walls. Going forward, especially once Liam starts working, we will aim to provide at least a weekly update on life in Glasgow, the kids’ adventures and their milestones. For the die-hard subscribers, I am trying to categorising posts into ‘BigDay’ and ‘WeeDay’. You should only receive email alerts for the BigDay posts. We didn’t want to be spamming your inboxes, but still wanted to document the rainy days and challenging times, because that is life.
