Friday night was a windy one, “a third person has died after Storm Arwen lashed parts of the UK with high winds, rain and snow…In Scotland, more than 100,000 people lost power”.

Saturday evening it was on with the thermals and in Lachlan’s case his Christmas getup too. It was a nice day so we walked to Milngavie (pronounced Milguy) town centre for the local Christmas Lights Switch On. We made sure to get there early to see the wee pageant, which included Santa Claus arriving in a reindeer drawn sleigh. The only problem was a little someone was fast asleep, not even the pipers could wake her up.

Liam had not been to this side of Milngavie before so we checked out the shops, there was an impressive cake bakery.

The Christmas Lights Switch On was still a while away, the kids were asleep and it was chilly so we started to head home with two large pies to warm us up for dinner. Of course, a confused Eloise woke up halfway home. The poor girl missed all the action.
Meanwhile in Adelaide, “protesters [held a] ‘freedom rally’ outside Channel 7 headquarters at Hindmarsh”. No Curious George, we do not know any of these people either, well, we hope we do not.

In the early hours this morning, it started to snow for the first time this season. Eloise found it very amusing. She could not wait to put on her jacket but ensured she had a biscuit in hand to keep her warm. We have been told the actual snowy months are usually January and February.

Liam was eager to try out the new car ice scraper. Although it was more snow than ice on the car. We might need a snow brush.

After breakfast, we headed back to Silverburn Shopping Centre to pick up some new snow jackets. Our Adelaide winter clothes are not cutting it anymore. It took a while to rally the troops because Eloise did not want to leave the massive Christmas tree.

We did not have much luck in the snow jacket compartment but at least lunch hit the spot. Lachlan could have had hours of entertainment with the ladle.

It was then home to try and get the house under some sort of control before a busy next weekend. We are hoping we can still get away, with the emergence of the Omicron COVID-19 variant. Here we go again… Looks like best friends of the blog, the Mckenzies, timed it well.

Also, rumour has it the ‘Happy snaps’ and ‘Watch us grow’ pages have been updated.
