After a late Friday night by all at our first Burns Night supper we had a nice lay in until 08:30, we could not believe it. George and Nathan must have really tuckered out the kids. We rushed downstairs and wrestled with the VPN to catch Ash Barty storm home in the second set. A fantastic result for Australia, “Ash Barty breaks 44-year title drought to claim first Australian Open with win over Danielle Collins”.
About time Margaret Court Arena is renamed!
Oh, apparently Kokkinakis (Becca’s boyfriend) and that other bloke also won the men doubles final. Not a bad day for Australian tennis.
Super Mum had made a stack of pancakes, Lachlan was very upset he could not have any and Eloise was taunting him from her perch.
It was a slow morning as we all recovered from last night. Eventually, Lachlan breached the demilitarized zone and we decided it was time to get out of the house.
After lunch, we headed across town to Strathclyde Loch, home to many Commonwealth Games and international championship events. It was a funny morning, after wearing sunglasses to Strathclyde Loch when we arrived there were hurricane cold winds. There was only one way to warm up as we made our way around the loch. We had not gone far through the wind tunnel when the koala was being blown away at the front of the Batmobile. We flipped her around and she found her cookies which fixed all her problems. It was a fast-paced walk around the loch to try and beat the sun which was rapidly dropping. There was such a strong breeze as we set off there were actually whitecaps on the loch.
On the drive home, we whipped up some Chinese cuisine for dinner. Eloise was excited to learn all about the world of fortune cookies. Poor Lachlan could smell the delicious goodness but was feeling robbed again.

After the kids were in bed and we finally got a second to sit down, we found out it had been so windy because Storm Malik was blowing through Scotland. Luckily there was no rain while we were out and about. Storm Malik has now passed through, hooray, clearing the path for Storm Corrie to hit tomorrow, classic Scotland. How do The MET Office name all these storms? We are glad you asked.
Eloise had extra springs in her steps this morning. It was Aquarium day, “fish day Dad, come on”. We headed towards SEA LIFE Loch Lomond Aquarium, Sophie had picked up a free ticket from a baby food packet.
The Loch Lomond area is always peaceful. We thought today would be a fun outing with the kids.
Eloise was given a wee magnifying glass as we entered and was the happiest kid around. Lachlan reclined, relaxed and watched the sea life that was much larger than him swim by.
Kirrie and Max happened to also be in the area so we caught up for lunch after a cheeky playground stop. Their recommendation of Cucina’s was a great one. Liam has been craving Italian for a while. Perhaps why he is so keen to head to Rome.
It was then a wet drive home as Storm Corrie settled in. A lot of people have told us it has been a mild winter, it has not been as wet as we expected. Perhaps Storm Corrie is about to play catchup?
