After a fun May Day long weekend spent on the Isle of Arran there was no time to rest. Lachlan had his long-awaited appointment with the Allergists. When we told Eloise that Lachlan had to go to hospital she was worried for her wee bro. However, that quickly turned to excitement when she heard that she would spend the afternoon with Juju. Thank you Juju and Jane! It was confirmed that poor Lachlan has a milk allergy. We are hopeful he will grow out of it but for now, we need to make sure Eloise does not sneakily share her babyccinos with him. Eloise seems to understand as she said “Lachlee cannot have milk, no milk, only milk from Mummy’s tummy”.

Wednesday morning, Liam redeemed one of his thousand ‘drive your partner to work credits’ that he has accumulated over the years. Super Mum and the kids dashed about trying to finish off Lachlan’s birthday presents before returning home because Eloise requested a rest day. Fair enough.

Thursday morning’s Gymboree session was pirate themed. Eloise knew all about pirates after her Clyde Valley Family Park pirate-themed day.

At post-Gymbo treats Lachlan lucked out and received early birthday presents from Emma. Thank you Emma and Jo. Lachlan loved his new cars and also received a toy smartphone, he is now up to speed with Grandpa DAVE on the tech front! However, Eloise caught a glimpse of it and she had claimed it as her own reminding Lachlan that he had lots of cars to play with.

In the evening Eloise made rocky road in preparation for the weekend celebrations. Lachlan tried his first dairy-free yoghurt which he polished off quickly after some initial pondering.

On Thursday, “Voters across Scotland are going to the polls to elect more than 1,200 new councillors to the country’s 32 local authorities”. We have had a few candidates knock on our door, but voting is not compulsory and we would not know where to begin. Probably with whoever will fix the roads, they are generally fairly average.
This morning, the new one-year-old had a big sleep in until 07:00. First thing, Eloise came dashing into our room “Happy Birthday Lachlee! Presents for you Lachlee, Lachlee, you presents today birthday!” Eloise led the charge downstairs excited for her brother.

Lachlan saw all the presents but then noticed the balloons. Lachlan loves a good balloon. He spent the next few minutes chasing them about the room giggling. This did not impress Eloise who was trying to steer his attention back to the presents.

With a bit of help from Big Sister, Lachlan started tearing his way through his presents. Eloise was happy but still not impressed by his speed, she had to help out, “presents for you Lachlee, me help you Lachlee, see presents open Lachlee”.

After trying his first Scottish Fox’s Party Rings, a regular in the household after Curious George introduced them into Eloise’s life, Lachlan played with his new toys while watching CBeebies “It’s my birthday” book. How did they know?

We cannot believe Lachlan has turned one today! Liam better stop telling people he is 6 months old. It just, what?! How? Where has that year gone? Come to think about it, Lachlan has had one hell of a first year. We would have thought he would be tired of everything that has gone on, but he is often the powerhouse with endless energy driving this family onwards. Even in the past couple of months Lachlan has grown a lot more aware of his surroundings and started to interact with Big Sister too which is lovely to see, the majority of the time, when he is not sneaking up on Foxie.

To celebrate Lachlan’s first birthday we were off to Edenmill Farm Shop, Cafe and Soft Play. Eloise was off darting about trying to see if Emma was here. Lachlan went straight to his happy place.

For dinner tonight, the birthday boy was Tapps-Aff after a joyous day.

With the kids in bed early the Bakineer got to work.

Looks like a wonderful celebration for Lachlan with more to come!! Look forward to seeing your baking creation Soph, they are always impressive. Especially if you add a little oil and gas engineering to the final product!
Happy Birthday to Lachlan. How he has grown. Looks like he had a great day.
