Saturday morning, I left Eloise in charge of da boyz and made my way across town to Emirates Arena for the Bounce Back to Netball World Cup. Joining forces with Mum Extraordinaire, we played five short matches. We won four of our five matches, securing second place and the silver medal. Just kidding, it was a super casual gathering and we had a blast.

Once I got home, Eloise reported that da boyz had been on their best behaviour, like usual, and to celebrate it was to the sandy playground.

Lachlan was not content in the sandy playground though and had his eyes on the skate park.

Lachlan threw a fit we would not let him run around the skate park and disappeared into the trees.

Disappointingly, Saturday evening the inevitable happened as “Manchester City have been crowned Premier League champions for the third successive season after title rivals Arsenal lost at Nottingham Forest”. Booo!

Lachlan started Sunday tackling it head-on as he came off second best with a front edge of a cupboard, he had an impressive egg on his head. Eloise helped him try and slow down and tried to teach him about colours.

Lachlan was still feeling keen to get out and about so we jumped in the car and made it through the southside to Kilbarchan to visit the National Trust’s Weaver’s Cottage.

The boy with the egg on his head was not wasting any time, dashing up the stairs to check out the wee cottage.

This National Trust site had a series of mice hidden that Eloise and Lachlan had to spot. Lachlan is a bit like a magpie and dashes about the rooms trying to grab everything shiny. Eloise was working methodically through each corner with her clipboard.

The chatty ladies working on site were telling us how there is a 200-year-old loom downstairs and that they are currently advertising for a resident weaver. Lachlan was quick to volunteer for the position.

We made our way outside as Lachlan had energy to burn.

Once Lachlan had run down a couple of gears we had another peep inside. Eloise had successfully found all the mice and traded her worksheet in for a wee weaving kit, which she was excited to receive.

There were a dozen-odd draws of tartans that had been produced on the Kilbarchan loom. We managed to find the Sinclair tartan.

At this traditional Kilbarchan weaver’s cottage we’ll transport you back to a time when hand-woven textiles were the pride of Scotland’s weaving industry. Weaver’s Cottage vividly re-creates the living and working conditions of a typical handloom weaver. With low ceiling beams and period furniture, it helps give an insight into life before the Industrial Revolution. Today, the weavers specialise in making tartan on a 200-year-old loom. The property has an attractive garden, where traditional dye plants including woad and madder are grown, along with a wide range of cottage garden plants.
It was the third attempt lucky on the way home as Lachlan lucked out with some new boardies. All set for our holiday next week! Stay tuned.

After a rapid recharge power nap, Lachlan wanted to take his favourite dino out for a stroll. Lachlan’s stroll is a fast one.

Lachlan then got distracted by the curb and it become a long walk home as he never wants any help. He was actually being careful, must have been the head knock.
