Yesterday morning Sophie and the kids jumped on their first train in Scotland (ScotRail) from the city apartment out to our new house. Eloise was excited, quickly hopping up onto her own seat and watching the world go by. Lachlan had a tactical nap.

Sophie and the kids had to meet the internet technician to help set up the fibre internet. Turns out the UK’s network is just as much of a mess as the Australian NBN. It’s actually worse with each company having their own indoor proprietary interconnect. Luckily the technician was able to work his magic. Now connected to the internet machine, the world can keep spinning and we can stay at the house #geny
In the afternoon Liam rented a van and went to pick up a couch from a friend. Believe it or not, he just happened to have a brand new burgundy leather couch and dad chair sitting in his garage. Boy do we owe him big time too, the list is growing, everyone has been incredibly supportive. He has done international secondments before and understood what the first few months were like and wanted to pay forward all the help he had received, we’ll have to do the same back in Australia. It was a nice drive but when Liam got home the kids were waiting at the front door to greet him. Eloise had been confused why they left Dad behind earlier and was glad to see him again.

After a bit of a struggle, we managed to get the couch and dad chair through the hallway and into the lounge room. Let’s hope we don’t have to move this again anytime soon.

Eloise slept in her bed for the first time last night. The poor girl was scared to begin with but slept well throughout the night. Dad had to curl up with her in the toddler bed until she felt comfortable.

This morning started with cousin chat. Once they had caught up with global current affairs it was off to buy a TV. Soph could not possibly miss out on one more episode of The Great British Bake Off, I see why she wanted to come now.

Luckily there was a Currys (JB Hi-Fi) around the corner, unluckily they did not have the TV model we were after and suggested we go to their Forge shop. After getting it mixed up with the Fort Shopping Centre we then proceeded on our wild goose chase to find a TV. On the long drive we passed Ibrox Stadium and then Celtic Park. For those that have not been to Scotland or follow Football, let’s just say they are not the best of neighbours. An hour later and seeing a lot more of Glasgow than planned we were on our way home with a TV.

We got home just in time to catch the second half of Liverpool’s win against Burnley, while waiting for our Amazon prime screws to arrive so we could mount the TV. Eloise was introducing the players to Lachlan, who was being very patient.

After a mad hour of tidying the house and then throwing a couple of chairs together (almost in time), Nathan and Emily popped over for afternoon tea. Eloise had been looking forward to seeing Nathan all morning “Nath, Nath, Nath”. When Nathan and Emily arrived they had another two bags of kids toys. Eloise must think he is Santa Claus.

We managed to wrestle the TV onto the wall before all searching for Lachie. He had done a double roll and then camouflaged into his surroundings. Glaswegian ninja baby.

It was our first night having dinner at the new dining table. Sophie made a delicious Chili con carne (not UK) from her new UK Mumma cooking book.

After almost four weeks and both children asleep we finally found some time to relax, put up our feet and get onto watching The Grand Tour’s Lochdown special before another adventure tomorrow.

Really pleased to receive all the travel information the kids are really growing miss you
