This morning Lachlan was the happiest boy in Glasgow because he was about to be reunited with ol’ mate Curious George. After a typical wild Saturday night, Curious George managed to meet us at the Riverside Museum.
The Riverside Museum is the location of the Glasgow Museum of Transport, at Pointhouse Quay in the Glasgow Harbour regeneration district of Glasgow, Scotland. The building opened in June 2011. The museum won the 2013 European Museum of the Year Award.
It was the perfect spot for Eloise, a transport museum. With plenty of trains and buses, she was in heaven. There was also a big focus on shipbuilding, with many detailed models.
Once we were done looking at all the displays we walked around the back to the River Clyde and went on The Tall Ship. The day was getting better and better for the kids. Lachlan made sure he was heard and kept his eyes on Curious George at all times.
Glenlee is a steel-hulled three-masted barque, built as a cargo ship at Port Glasgow under that name in 1896 for Glasgow owners. With later owners she was named Islamount and Clarastella. From 1922 she was the sail training ship Galatea in the Spanish Navy. Since 1993, carrying her original name, Glenlee has been a museum ship at the Riverside Museum on Pointhouse Quay, Glasgow, known as The Tall Ship at Glasgow Harbour.
It was a sunny but cool day, so it was a swift walk back to the car and onwards to check out Curious George’s new bachelor pad. Eloise was excited to give Curious George his housewarming gift that she chose and wrapped herself. She did very well not to ruin the surprise earlier.
We had to make the most of the sun so after a quick Scottish snare drum lesson and a belly scratch, it was off to explore the West End for lunch, ending up at Dal Pizzaiolo for pizzas. The nice owner spoiled a little girl with a milkshake and chocolate.
It was then home time to warm up and have a tactical nap.
