It was a slow start to the week, Eloise is now actually sleeping in past 07:00 regularly, so we only have Lachlan to contest with in bed. After an energetic morning running errands, Lachlan crashed, he had gone too hard too early.

After Lachlan’s giant nap, Super Mum thought it would be clever to make him walk to nursery. However, Lachlan, always one step ahead, demanded a shoulder ride with his baby.

You cannot tell from this photo, but it started bucketing as we made the final dash home.

For dinner, Eloise requested her beloved sushi, she is turning into a sushi rolling pro. Eloise even thoughtfully made nude sushi for Lachlan.

The sushi was delicious, even if Lachlan skulled his soy sauce, he had no regrets.

Tuesday it was absolutely bucketing as we all made our way to work and nursery, the rain is certainly becoming more frequent, much to Eloise’s delight. Eloise is always asking if she can come along to work with me again, she thinks my days are full of face painting, bouncy castles and balloon animals.

Lachlan was living his best life with his cosy blanket as he had another sneaky Juju catch up.

Eloise was ecstatic after dance when she got home to show Dad her “school bag”, she was one of the lucky ones to take home a surprise bag of goodies, she could not wait to check out what she had. Someone is ready for school.

At about bedtime o’clock the four of us hit the town. We had an exciting dinner reservation at Mikaku: ‘So much more than the sum of its parts’. Described as a “buzzing Japanese inn” it was funnily enough tucked away just around the corner from our wee apartment where it all began. We made a very wet dash, you would think after two years of living in Scotland we would be more prepared by now.

Mikaku had an impressive entrance, decked out like a mini Japanese town in an indoor setting. Lachlan loved the lanterns and found them very entertaining. All the blog’s favourite characters were out in force to wish Nathan a happy farewell, you will be hugely missed. I am sure we will stay in touch.

Eloise and Lachlan both appreciated how their food arrived in Bento boxes. Eloise thought it was a bit silly that their ice cream came out at the same time as their dinner but impressively made her way through the Bento box finishing with the ice cream. Lachlan however, went straight in for dessert.

Wednesday morning, we were all a bit sleepy after a late night out. Eloise decided we better start the day with pancakes. Lachlan was quick to agree.

In the afternoon we braved the wet conditions as we made our way to the doctors, Eloise and Lachlan both had their next vaccinations due. Eloise was not at all happy with the process, Lachlan on the other hand played it cool.

Thursday was a quiet day, Dad was unfortunately battling the man flu, Lachlan is starting to bounce back and have more energy. The kids have been a little off this week too, we all had to take it easy with inside games before a massive weekend.

This morning the boys were starting to feel much better. Lachlan was back to his usual morning compulsory hide and seek games, Eloise enjoyed joining in. Super Mum was just happy to have a couple of minutes to herself. A win for all involved.

After midday, we made our way back into Buchanan Galleries to see what artwork tickled our fancy.

We then skipped to George Square, we heard a “huge space rocket [docked] at Glasgow’s George Square”, FIK sure do love a big rocket. We thought it would be great to take the kids along as “the exciting initiative aims to captivate and educate the next generation, showcasing the UK’s flourishing space industry”. Incredibly and to our surprise “Scotland has a strong reputation in the space sector as they produce the second most amount of satellites in the world behind California”, “In fact, Glasgow produces more small satellites than anywhere else in Europe”. The man always dressed for the occasion, just happened to be wearing his rocket jumper.

LauncherOne was a two-stage orbital launch vehicle developed and flown by Virgin Orbit that had operational flights from 2021 to 2023, after being in development from 2007 to 2020. It was an air-launched rocket, designed to carry smallsat payloads of up to 300 kg (660 lb) into Sun-synchronous orbit (SSO), following air launch from a carrier aircraft at high altitude. The rocket was carried to the upper atmosphere on a modified Boeing 747-400, named Cosmic Girl, and released over ocean. Initial work on the program was done by Virgin Galactic, another Virgin Group subsidiary, before a separate entity — Virgin Orbit — was formed in 2017 to complete development and operate the launch service provider business separately from the passenger-carrying Virgin Galactic business. The first successful flight was on 17 January 2021, which delivered a payload of 10 CubeSats to low Earth orbit (LEO). Three further launches successfully reached orbit. An initial test flight was unsuccessful on 25 May 2020, when the rocket failed to reach space. The final flight on 9 January 2023 also failed to reach orbit.
After a few years working in jet aircraft store clearance in a past life, this all sounds entirely mental to me but then again that is exactly what Virgin Galactic is all about. There is actually a fantastic documentary about the January 2023 launch on Channel 4 in the UK which we would highly recommend. Eloise and Lachlan were excited to learn more about rockets and managed to pick up a few freebies along the way.

Full of energy the Super Mum with the brightest sneans in the world made tracks. Eloise was focused on learning all about Spaceports and orbital mechanics.

All of a sudden the clouds parted and it was heating up. No chance that Eloise was taking her favourite jumper off. The day was completely sidetracked though when Eloise saw a wee girl with a balloon Spider Man. There is a semi-famous man in Glasgow who pops up what seems like everywhere and does incredible balloon animals or characters. We knew it must have been his work, Eloise demanded to go up on Dad’s shoulder in search of the balloon man, ordering us in all sorts of directions.

Sadly we could not find the balloon man. Although we did find a Hamleys where Lachlan had a great time racing the car about with Eloise giving him some directions. Lachlan also found plenty of Baby Coos in case Aubrey needs a fold of coos.

Something, then caught all of our attention, especially Dad’s. Coming to a home near you soon! It would be silly not to get it really.

After a good Duplo sesh, Lachlan waved a final farewell to his mate and we headed home to pack our bags ready for launch! Woot Woot!
